The Finance Director/Deputy City Manager is a critical leadership position that works closely with the City Manager, City Clerk, and Department Heads to accomplish the goals and directives of the City Council. This role requires a high level of expertise in financial management, public administration, and municipal accounting.
Key Responsibilities
This position is responsible for:
- Coordinating workflow with the City Manager, City Clerk, and Department Heads
- Preparing the City budget in cooperation with the City Manager and department heads
- Monitoring the City's financial activities, overall financial position, and financial functions in coordination with the City Manager
- Attending all meetings of the City Council and working as part of the administrative team to accomplish and oversee all projects, functions, and services related to the City's finances
- Directing the maintenance of an accounting system for the City government and its agencies in accordance with established and accepted municipal accounting principles and practices
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directly supervises two Finance Assistants.
Requirements

Education and Experience
Candidates should have a graduation from an accredited college or university with emphasis in accounting and public administration, along with four years of responsible administrative and managerial experience. Previous municipal or county government experience is highly desirable.
