GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT OF GENERATION

The Office of Public Utilities, Electric Generation Division, is seeking an individual under general supervision of the Electric Division Manager or Chief Utilities Engineer, to provide overall management of the Electric Generation Division. This position is administratively responsible for the standards, procedures and policies in the following electric generation area: Electric Production, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance and Technical Support. Perform regular analysis and periodic review of the generating division, which includes budget preparation, monitoring and control, cost of operation and maintenance, methods of operation and maintenance, preparation of a five year capital plan, personnel matters such as discipline, manpower requirements and recommendations, administration of labor agreements, negotiations and grievances, and department policies and procedures. This position requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years collge in mechanical or electrical engineering. Have a minimum of ten years of preogressive experience in electrical generation. Have a minimum of six years management, supervisory or administrative experience in the field of power generation. Successful candidate must be able to pass an IEMA (or equivalent) approved class. A valid Class D driver’s license is also required and adherence to the Facial Hair Policy. Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
