The Technician helps to ensure program compliance with local, state, and federal environmental quality regulations, and pollution prevention, recycling, and other environmental management programs. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include: • Associate degree in the field of physics, chemistry, biology, environmental studies, environmental engineering, or related field, and; experience related to water quality, industrial wastewater treatment processes, commercial, residential, and industrial wastewater dischargers and their business processes• Grade B22 (Technician I): 0-2 years of general experience (entry-level experience performing basic and routine supportive tasks such as less complex permit writing and decision making)• Grade B23 (Technician II): 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience (journey-level experience performing the full range of duties that includes understanding established department and program policies and procedures)• Grade B24 (Technician III): 5 or more years of experience (advanced- level experience, greater independence, greater responsibility, and technical expertise such as representing the City in field situations and providing guidance to other staff)License, Certifications, & Special Requirements: • Oregon Driver’s license by time of appointment• Vaccination for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B are required within 30 days of hirePhysical Requirements: Position may be light or medium work depending on assignment.• Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
