What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Attendant position at City of Springfield?
Seasonal work involves responsibility for starting golfers, patrolling the golf course, checking golf receipts/tags, and working in the pro shop at Springfield’s municipal golf courses. Work is performed under administrative supervision in accordance with well-established golf course practices and procedures and requires the exercise of considerable tact and initiative in enforcing rules, regulations and addressing complaints. No supervision is exercised over other employees.
- Sells golf tickets and collects fees.
- Starts golfers off first/tenth tee in a safe and orderly fashion; inspects green fees and cart fees receipts for golfers.
- Advises golfers of schedules of play and waiting times, course conditions, and course rules.
- Patrols golf course for compliance with course rules and regulations; takes steps to ensure correct pace of play.
- Prepares golf carts for use; cleans and positions carts after each round.
- Serves notice that food and beverages not purchased at the golf course concession are not allowed.
- Assists with accounting for fees collected and with keeping clerical records.
- Assists in tournaments and special events.
- Assists with first aid for minor accidents.
- May perform routing custodial and labor work to maintain neat and orderly golf course and building conditions.
- Responsible for filling portable water coolers at various locations.
- Ensures that patrons have a safe and enjoyable golf experience.
- Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge of golf play, rules, and etiquette conducive to acceptable play.
- Knowledge of proper golf course conditions.
- Knowledge of the methods and techniques for cashiering.
- Working knowledge of first aide for minor accidents
- Ability to enforce rules and regulations firmly.
- Ability to follow directives in an effective and timely manner.
- Ability to perform custodial and laboring functions.
- Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the general public.
Golfing experience or knowledge preferred.
