The City of St. Albans Recreation Department is accepting applications for a Theater Manager at the Welden Theatre.
This job requires a driver’s license and oversees all theater operations and includes an excellent benefits package and fun working environment.
This position reports to the Recreation Director and performs managerial work including day to day running of theater, maintaining a clean and comfortable experience for patrons, training & scheduling staff, ingesting movies, building and scheduling movies, overseeing daily financials and deposits, coordinating with film broker to determine movies and scheduling, planning special film related events, working with schools and groups in offering field trips, scheduling and setting up private rentals and parties, ordering concession needs and supplies. Analyzing sales reports to identify trends and opportunities for increased profitability. Other related work is performed as required. Theater Manager reports to the Recreation Director and works closely with recreation staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain an exceptional movie going experience for all guests.
- Oversee accurate daily financial cash out and deposit.
- Oversee and perform daily grosses report.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the theater including concession area and other public spaces.
- Work with, schedule and manage a youthful staff.
- Hire and train staff members.
- Ingest movies into the projector weekly.
- Build movie playlists for each projector weekly.
- Coordinate with film broker to schedule movie showings and create playlist.
- Update communications weekly including phone message, social media, marquee, square point of sale, website & Ticketleap.
- Purchase supplies and concession items.
- Maintain inventory of concession supplies.

Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Relevant experience is preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- This is a movie theater-based job in a community theater owned by the City of St. Albans. Regular work hours will vary depending on movie scheduling, time of year, special events, school vacations and other needs of the community. The manager will be expected to work some day, evening and weekend hours. While performing the duties of the job, the manager is required to communicate frequently with the public, other city staff, the recreation director, operate projector machinery, operate concession machinery. The employee must occasionally move up to 25 lbs and may be required to stand for long periods of time.
