Job Summary/Scope
Conduct various adult and youth fitness classes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts and instructs fitness classes for adults and youth.
- Plans routines and schedules fitness classes.
- Observes and informs participants of proper techniques.
- Ensure all safety precautions are being used.
- Prepares fitness area for proper set up prior to classes.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skills and knowledge in proper instruction and conducting assigned fitness class.
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED training certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association or an equivalent nationally recognized course in First Aid/CPR/AED.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a wide variety of age groups.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which will include evenings, weekends and holidays.
- One or more years’ experience required or any combination of education and work experience to provide the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities.
Material and Equipment Directly Used
Uses a variety of exercise equipment in connection to fitness classes. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Majority of work is performed in an indoor setting with a controlled environment. Physical activity includes prolonged standing, bending, stooping, lifting, walking and uses arms, legs and hands frequently. Must have the ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds and assist in lifting objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
