About the position
Leads in coordinating, processing, and monitoring all aspects of the utility billing cycle for completeness and accuracy to ensure accurate utility bills are being processed to all customers. Provide general administrative support and exceptional customer service for inquiries related to utility billing and accounts receivable.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Utility billing
- Plan, assign, and participate in the work of staff involved in utility billing and collections activities
- Primary processor for residential billing cycle and be the backup for monthly commercial billing.
- Facilitate a good working relationship between the Public Works Department and Utility Billing
- Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, State / local agencies and associations, City management and staff, and the public.
- Communicate with others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations.
- Generate schedules for multiple processes and activities and schedules staff accordingly.
- Participate in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures
- Communicate with citizens and other City employees the necessary information regarding service, complaints, and other concerns.
- Prepare an assortment of printouts as necessary for the city. Such reports include utility cutoffs, meter changes, and data analysis
- Coordinates the training of division personnel; assigns work to division staff and office personnel; monitors work activities to ensure work completion.
- Be the UB lead in annual certification process in coordination in accounting staff
- Provide support and coverage for utility billing specialist.
- Coordinate the daily workflow between UB specialists and other stakeholders
- Ensure accurate meter readings for billing.
- Open, close, and monitor customer accounts as needed. Research, analyze, and adjust customer accounts as needed.
- Maintain daily balancing of utility billing system and control sheet.
- Process NSF payments.
- Process final billings.
- Process refunds.

Assist customers with garbage, recycling, organics, and yard waste inquiries and cart changes.
