About the position
Perform maintenance and repair work on infrastructure, mechanical equipment, and public facilities. Assist public service workers with tasks related to streets, sidewalks, trails, water distribution, storm and sanitary sewers, and other city assets.
This is a seasonal, full-time position working up to 40 hours a week that will run from March - November. Standard hours are Monday - Friday from 6:30a.m. - 2:30p.m. Occasionally hours may include nights and weekends based on maintenance needs.This position is eligible for a retention bonus: Employees in this position will earn an additional 50 cents/hour for each hour worked during the season (March-November) if they work a minimum of 320 hours and meet performance requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure utilities operate smoothly, infrastructure systems function efficiently, and facilities remain in good condition.

Routine maintenance tasks may include:
- Cleaning sanitary and storm sewer lines
- Catch basin and manhole repair
- Building maintenance (cleaning, painting, landscape, mowing),
- Assist with Gopher State One utility locates
- Flushing hydrants
- Exercising water valves
- Other maintenance duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city’s strategic objectives for advancing racial equity.
- One year of related experience.
