Supervise and provide recreational experiences for youth ages 4 and 5 participating in the summer preschool playground program and youth athletics programs in St. Louis Park.Position is seasonal and runs June – August 2024, working 30-40 hours per week.
- Provide recreational experiences for children ranging from 4-5 years of age. Interact with children through games, crafts, and sports.
- Plan weekly activities and crafts based on set themes and develop creative ideas to add a variety of program offerings for children.
- Provide varied recreation administrative duties such as registration, parent communication, etc. Verify that emergency forms collected at the park are properly completed and turned in promptly.
- Provide supervision for other playground leaders and junior leaders.
- Provide supervision and discipline for children in recreation program to ensure their safety.
- Attend weekly staff meetings on time with necessary materials.
- Attend preseason orientation and post season evaluation meetings.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Prior experience working in a playground or camp program setting.
- Ability to:
- Interact and develop rapport with children of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
- Engage those children in a variety of active and passive playground activities/youth athletics.
- Work with other playground leaders and coordinators/youth coaches effectively and in harmony.
- Delegate tasks and job duties to other playground leaders and junior leaders.
- Communicate effectively with other supervisors, leaders, parents and community members from all cultures and backgrounds.
- Ability and experience working with and relating to children ages 4-5
- Knowledge or course work in child development, parks and recreation, education, or related athletic sport.
- Hold or be pursuing a degree in primary education, recreation or related field.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city’s strategic objectives for advancing racial equity.
- Has a valid MN driver's license.
Salary : $18 - $19
