Per Diem: $26.73Position Grade: 5GDepartment: StreetsJob Type: Per Performance (Part-time)Examination Number: EX1381Location:This This is work assisting and safeguarding school children in the crossing of City streets during the morning and evening periods of a school day as designated by the school and principal. ?Supervises and controls pedestrian and vehicular traffic at school crossings. ?Turns school stop signs in appropriate directions to control traffic at specific times. ?Stops vehicular traffic with portable stop signs and directs or leads children across the street. ?Supervises safety patrol children when available. ?Writes down automobile license numbers and the description of the automobile and motorist when motorist fails to obey traffic signals or signs in the vicinity of the school crossing; reports information to proper authorities. ?Attends training courses on school crossing safety programs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ?Data Utilization: Requires good knowledge of City traffic ordinances; pedestrian safety rules and traffic conditions. ?Human Interaction: Requires the ability to follow specific instructions and respond to simple requests from others. ?Equipment, Machinery, Tools and Materials Use: Requires the ability to operate, maneuver and/or provide simple but continuous adjustment on equipment and/or materials used in performing essential functions. ?Verbal Aptitude: Requires considerable skill in dealing firmly but tactfully with children and motorists. ?Mathematical Aptitude: None. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out basic instructions.
