What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meter Reader position at City of St. Petersburg?
This position requires performing routine field work involving reading meters to record water consumption using a hand-held meter reading device. An employee in this classification drives to assigned routes and walks 7-9 miles (daily) to obtain readings from approximately 400-600 water meter locations. This work also involves using a meter stick to lift meter lids weighing 15-25 pounds at each location.
Salary: $17.39 - $24.84 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Possess and continue to maintain a valid Driver License.
- Provide a personal motor vehicle for performance of assigned duties.
- Maintain an automobile insurance policy that meets the minimum requirements of liability established by the State of Florida for property damage and personal injury coverage for “business use”.
- Be able to work outdoors under varied weather conditions, walking numerous miles per day and perform frequent lifting and handling of materials weighing 15-25 pounds.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Possess a basic knowledge of computer technology and good customer service skills.
