Job Overview
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the swimming pool area, assisting guests with pool equipment, and enforcing pool rules and regulations, ensuring that all guests have a pleasant and enjoyable experience.
NOTE: Employee may be required to respond to a disaster, either natural or man-made, to serve the citizens of Statesville. Service to the citizens during a disaster may result in the assignment of other duties, which will take precedence over duties described in this job description. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other related duties as needed to meet the needs of the organization.
This position involves light work requiring the exertion of 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may require the use of fingers and hands, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and to convey detailed or important instructions to others; hearing is required to respond to spoken words, to receive and understand information, and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities.

The employee is subject to outdoor environmental conditions involving extreme heat, high humidity, sun, water, noise, dust, pollens, fumes, chlorine, and hazards including exposure to chemicals, electrical currents, slippery surfaces, and atmospheric conditions. Employee may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

- Collects money from guests upon entering the facility.
- Maintains accurate attendance and concession sale records.
- Gives keys to guests for lockers.
- Enforces pool rules and regulations.
- Sells concessions to pool guests.
- Keeps the concession stand clean and orderly.
- Maintains accurate inventory of concession items.
- Hands out tubes and life jackets for the Lazy River area.
- Monitors guests entering the waterslide area.
- Submits weekly inventory requests.
- Submits daily revenue and concession sales.Â
- Always provides courteous treatment of pool guests.Â
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or currently enrolled.
- Must be at least 15 years old.
- Knowledge of the rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to municipal pool operations.
- Knowledge of the equipment and safety precautions of aquatic activities such as waterslides and lazy rivers.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics as it relates to ticket and concession sales and inventory.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to calculate basic math functions as it relates to cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation, and concession inventory.
- Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
- Ability to accurately maintain records and prepare required reports.
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsible.
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the general public.
