- Developing policy, procedures, and practices that align with modern, professional standards
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution
- Through knowledge of modern public works practices
- 5 years of supervisory experience in a public works department
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Leadership experience running a public works department of similar size and complexity
- Bachelor’s degree
- Effective communicator with a strong ability to management operations and derive value from consultants working for the city
- Demonstrated customer service attitude
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of public works systems, including water, sewer, sanitation, streets, parks, and building maintenance.
- Strong supervisory skills with experience managing diverse teams.
- Ability to manage budgets, prioritize projects, and allocate resources effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with staff, residents, and city officials.
- Comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and local regulations governing public works operations.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including public works management software and general office programs (Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, etc.).
