Job Summary
This position plans, coordinates, and directs the operations of the City’s ambulance service. This position handles the day-to-day, long-term, and strategic administration of the Sturgis Ambulance Service coordinating personnel, supplies inventory, medical protocols and procedures, training, quality fleet maintenance, and inter-facility cooperation.
Duties
- Direct overall operations (both logistical and strategic) of the Ambulance Service
- Provide vision, plans, and strategies for the Department’s current and future operational needs
- Establish and enforce policies and procedures for the Ambulance Service to ensure the highest level of quality responsive care in an effective manner
- Coordinate with the Ambulance Services’ Medical Director to ensure protocols, procedures, and standard operating guidelines are kept current and in compliance with all federal and state laws
- Supervise staff in the performance of their duties including: hiring/firing, scheduling; assigning and prioritizing duties; reviewing and approving work; managing employee performance and discipline issues; and evaluate training needs and opportunities;
- Conduct quality assurance / quality control audits on reports (especially with regards to Medicare documentation requirements)
- Debrief and review calls (at both team and staff wide levels) to provide as continuous improvement and on-the-job training
- Ensure proper reporting and billing to Medicare and insurance companies
- Oversee EMS training programs and establish minimum training standards and safety practices for full time staff; Conduct on-going EMT continuing education training (monthly)
Skills, Certifications
- High School Diploma (or GED)
- Familiarity with computer programs, including Windows, Microsoft applications as well as experience with automated and computerized reporting systems
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive supervisory experience.
Required Certifications
- Paramedic (Nationally Certified preferred)
- EMT-Basic certification
- CPR and First Aid Certified Instructor – or able to be within 6 months of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support
- Also, any firefighter certifications can be relevant.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
