- Conducts regularly scheduled preventive maintenance examination of the electronic systems and equipment at the City's water treatment plant and outlying water or wastewater pumping stations depending on the assigned Division. Utilize a laptop or PC in diagnosing and troubleshooting electronic equipment and devices. Repair malfunctioning equipment.
- Assists with the inspection of new pump stations upon completion, testing their electrical and electronic control systems as necessary.
- Maintains and calibrates water treatment process analyzers (analyzers manufactured by the Hach Corporation or equivalent are currently in use at the water treatment plant), electronic instrumentation and control devices used at the water treatment plant, pumping stations and storage facilities.
- Prepares and maintains logs and records of maintenance and repair work performed, submitting and/or filing such documents as requested or otherwise appropriate. Access work orders contained in the City's work order system. Documents all work performed in the City's work order system.
- Orders replacement parts and equipment to maintain required inventory of essential parts and equipment.
- Operates a variety of test equipment such as VOM, clamp amp meter, laptop and PC.
- Assists other staff. Provides training and instruction as needed.
- Additional Duties:
- If assigned to the Division of Maintenance, disconnect and reconnect pump motors at pump stations for maintenance staff. Disconnects and reconnects pump motors at pump stations for maintenance staff.
- Responds to after hours calls to perform emergency repair work.
- Performs other related work as required.
Vocational/technical diploma in electronics or related areas, and 3 to 5 years of experience in electronic repair work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Possession of a valid driver's license and able to obtain CET (Certified Electronics Technician) License within one year of hire.
- Considerable knowledge of electronic equipment utilized at the water treatment plant, pumping stations, storage facilities if assigned to the Division of Water Production or at wastewater pumping stations if assigned to the Division of Maintenance.
- General knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of electronic equipment.
- General knowledge of the basic principles of electronic theory.
- Ability to read technical specifications, reports, operations and maintenance manuals.
- Is skilled in the use and care of the tools, equipment and materials used in testing, maintenance, calibration and repair of electronic equipment.
- Able to diagnose and repair common malfunctions in electronic equipment.
- Familiar with control systems, ladder logic and function block diagrams.
- Knowledge of cellular telemetry systems and the maintenance requirements of those systems.
- Able to read and interpret plans and circuit diagrams of electronic equipment.
- Able to prepare and maintain routine activity logs and reports.
- Able to exercise independent judgment and initiative in applying standards to a variety of work situations.
- Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to communicate effectively and efficiently.
- Able to exercise tact and courtesy in contact with Department head and public officials regarding requests and complaints.
- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
Salary : $58,374 - $74,662
