Under direction of the Utilities Director to perform activities pertaining to the operation of theGround Water System at the direction and supervision of a Licensed Surface Water TreatmentPlant Operator or a Ground Water Operator. This position is an entry level trainee position andthe position focus on learning and understanding how to perform a variety of daily operations atthe City owned pump stations, storage facilities, and the well field compliant with State of Texasand Federal Regulations.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Makes a TIMELY checklist round of pump stations and other facilities as required orrequested, using a City vehicle assigned to the Pumper.Maintains complete operating records of all outside facilities and logs this data inappropriate places (report forms and computer)Performs first level maintenance on all assigned outside facilities, which include pumpstations, storage facilities, intake structures, etc.Keeps all pump stations, liftstations, and other assigned facilities mowed, weedeated, edged,cleaned, and orderly at all times. This includes inside and outside duties.Must be easily contacted in case of emergencies, during on and off duty hours, requiring apersonal telephone.Must maintain assigned pick-up and tools. (washed and serviced regularly)Must be willing to cross-train in all areas of the Water Industries.Must monitor and maintain well field. This includes any Operations and Maintenanceneeded such as monitoring static levels, pumping rates, system controls, discharge lines,transmission lines, SCADA equipment, watershed contamination and the generalmaintenance and upkeep of all the related facilities.Must be able to work independently.Check and maintain cities owned sewage lift stations.Keeps all records of daily work performed (work orders), rain and lake gauge reports, andother operational data as may be requested or required. Must be able to perform various labtests and understand the results of each test.Checking pumps and motors for unusual noises or vibrations, and water and chemical levelsetc. After the check rounds are completed, proper check-list forms are required to be filledout and signed by the operator making the rounds.Maintains assigned ground-keeping area that includes mowing, weedeating, edging, pickingup trash, etc.Must be regular in attendance.And any other duties as assigned by the Utilities Director.
