Description
The Parks Facility Maintenance Worker I is assigned to the Parks Asset Management Team and performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance, repair, alteration and construction of parks assets including equipment, fixtures, furnishings, and facilities such as park restrooms.
Minimum Qualifications
Work Experience
Parks Facility Maintenance Worker I :
Two (2) years of experience in one (1) or more specific building, electrical, or construction trades.
Parks Facility Maintenance Worker II :
Two (2) years skilled Tradesperson experience in at least two (2) specific building or construction trades. Some trade examples include, but are not limited to plumbing, welding, concrete and electrical. A Tradesman is defined as a worker fully skilled in a specific trade or trades with the ability to perform the full range of the trade-specific duties unassisted.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant's full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Education
Parks Facility Maintenance Worker I :
High school diploma, GED, or equivalency supplemented by specialized training in construction building or electrical trades.
Parks Facility Maintenance Worker II :
Equivalent to the completion of an apprentice program, a two (2) year trade school program or college degree related to the core functions of this position.
The term "equivalent" means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal time increments for college-level education, for example: one year of additional directly related work experience will substitute for one year of college education (30 credit hours).
