STARTING SALARY RANGE: $21.03 - $22.10 per hour
POSITION: Utility Billing Specialist I
POSITION NO: 2.113
DEPT: Finance
This is responsible work specializing in utility billing customer service. The employee must be able to provide the public with information regarding policies, procedures, and rate structures and resolve difficult customer service problems using tact and courtesy. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment and an extensive working knowledge of the utility billing system.
**Must have skills in Excel and Word, able to follow directions, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.**
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures regarding the utility billing and collection system.
- 1 year with cash handling responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently on complex and specialized tasks.
- Ability to analyze customer accounts and explain adjustments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office .
Training, Certification, and Experience
- Must have skills in Excel and Word, able to follow directions, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED, preferably supplemented by coursework in business practice.
- Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Utility billing experience preferred.
Special Requirements
- Valid Florida driver’s license.
