This is a full-time, Union eligible position subject to pre-employment background check. Under the direction of the Library Director, incumbent performs a variety of library tasks. The person excelling in this role will lead the development and implementation of teen library services, act as a mentor and connect teens to resources and opportunities that reflect their interests, respond to their needs within diverse and changing communities, and empower them to be builders of their own future. Keeps up-to-date on relevant programs and services, and cataloging practices that enhance the ability of library staff to provide quality information to patrons in an effective and efficient manner. Front-desk circulation tasks required while attending to the public with outstanding customer service. This is a full-time position requiring hours of standing and physical stamina, and ability to work a flexible schedule as evening and Saturday work is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with knowledge of library operations. A typical way of attaining this knowledge and ability is with the following qualifications.
Education/Training: Bachelor's degree preferred. However, any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED, plus experience in a library environment would be acceptable. Bilingual, English-Spanish a plus.
Experience/Training: A minimum of two years' experience working with youth in a similar role.
License or certificates: Driver's License
Compensation:
The current wage range for this position is from $26.18 to $31.26 per hour.
