What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at City of Traverse City?
Under direct supervision, performs routine tasks to maintain, repair, clean and install equipment or machinery and parking operational devices within facilities and systems under the control of the Traverse City Parking System. Must be available for irregular hours scheduled during events. Must be available for rotating remote support and on-call schedule. Inspects, repairs and maintains the electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, snow melt boilers, elevator troubleshooting, electric vehicle charging stations and other related systems in all Traverse City Parking Services facilities as directed by the Parking Director. Starting wage is $22.46 per hour.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training and Experience:
- High School graduation or GED.
- 18 months of education and training beyond high school level in general maintenance and repair, or closely related area.
Licensing and Other Requirements:
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Must be open to irregular work hours including early mornings, nights and weekends and some holidays.
- Must be available for rotating remote support and on-call schedule.
- Must reside in and maintain principal residence within 30 miles from the nearest city limit, within twelve months of the date of hire.
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of common hand and machine tools, and basic mechanical repairs.
- Knowledge of applicable City policies and procedures related to safety and parking meter operations
- Knowledge of cash handling and collection procedures
