Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Building Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects comply with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, the ability to analyze schematics and blueprints, and a commitment to quality control throughout the building process.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of residential and commercial buildings at various stages of construction to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
- Review construction plans, blueprints, and schematics to understand project specifications and requirements.
- Analyze construction sites for safety hazards and compliance with established standards.
- Collaborate with contractors, architects, and engineers to address any issues or discrepancies found during inspections.
- Collect data on building materials and methods used in construction for quality control purposes.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, including any violations or necessary corrections.
- Provide guidance on building codes and regulations to contractors and property owners.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to construction inspection processes.
Requirements
- Certification by the International Code Council (ICC) in Residential and Commercial Inspections.
- Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level IB Certification.
- Proven experience in construction inspection or management is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality control processes.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding of schematics.
- Ability to analyze contracts and project specifications effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders in the construction process.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards in all inspections.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A valid State of Georgia's driver's license is required for travel between job sites.
