Position Specific Summary
The Aquatics Coordinator position at the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for planning and overseeing all aquatic programs and activities, including swimming lessons, water fitness classes, pool rentals and special events. This position will be responsible for overseeing the Edith Ball Adaptive Recreation Center staff.
Work is performed under the supervisor of the Aquatics Superintendent. This position exercises supervision over aquatic unit personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinates instructional swimming classes, aquatic programs, and aquatic special events. Develops schedules of activities for assigned programs. Assists with the distribution, control, and requisition of aquatic equipment and supplies, and class supplies.
Supervises section staff by approving staff schedules, conducting performance evaluations, approving timecards, approving time off requests, and assisting in the hiring of staff. Ensures appropriate staffing coverage for classes and programs, filling in as needed- .

Working Conditions
Indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
6 months post high school
Experience
Two (2) years of directly related experience
Equivalency
Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
License/Certifications
Preferred Qualifications
Water Safety Instructor Trainer or Swim Safety Instructor Trainer CertificationsLifeguard Certification
