Tukwila Parks and Recreation (TPR), Green Tukwila Program (GTP) is actively seeking a Seasonal Site Supervisor who is punctual, energetic, enthusiastic, self-starter, and flexible with the ability to work weekend hours. This position will oversee and lead community volunteers in ecological restoration work parties and environmental programs that support the Green Tukwila 20-year Stewardship Plan that identifies 138 acres needing ecological restoration.

With work in the office and the field, this position involves multi-faceted duties that require collaboration and problem-solving and an elevated level of motivation, versatility, and independence. The Seasonal Green Tukwila Site Supervisor will report directly to the Tukwila Park and Recreation Stewardship Coordinator for the Green Tukwila Partnership. This position serves as part of the Community and Volunteer Engagement Program and will assist in all aspects of volunteer organization, coordination, community education and restoration events.

About the Green Tukwila Partnership
The City of Tukwila joined the Green Cities Partnership, a collaboration of Puget Sound cities working to steward natural open spaces in 2017. Tukwila’s program is called the Green Tukwila Partnership (GTP) and is under Tukwila Parks and Recreation department. Together with Forterra, EarthCorps, Duwamish Alive Coalition, Partner in Employment, Dirt Corps, King County Parks, and the Tukwila community, Green Tukwila Partnership will care for public parks and natural open spaces across the city. Over the next 20 years, the partnership will work to restore and maintain 138 acres of Tukwila’s urban forest.

Schedule
This seasonal 10-hour-a-week position is term-limited, starts April, 2025 and ends on December 31, 2025. Schedule is somewhat flexible and will be established with new hire, it will require two Saturday’s a month to support field events.

Possible Monthly Schedules: 9:00 am –2:30 pm
Week 1, Week 2: Thursday, Friday and Week 3, Week 4: Friday, Saturday
Set Schedule: Friday and Saturday

Scope of Responsibility

  • With work in the office and the field, this position involves multi-faceted duties that require collaboration and problem-solving and an elevated level of motivation, versatility, and independence. The Seasonal Green Tukwila Site Supervisor will report directly to the Tukwila Park and Recreation Stewardship Coordinator for the Green Tukwila Partnership. This position serves as part of the Community and Volunteer Engagement Program and will assist in all aspects of volunteer organization, coordination, community education and restoration events.
  • Field work includes onsite leadership of volunteers, invasive plant removal, litter clean ups, native plant installation, maintaining tools and other outdoor projects.
  • Office tasks include data entry, researching, printing, laminating, emailing, recruiting volunteers and developing logistics for field work.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Support and lead high quality volunteer events on Saturdays and weekdays for restoration and litter clean ups.
  • Recruit, register, and coordinate program volunteers.
  • Provide leadership and direction to volunteers and work cooperatively with staff and program partners.
  • Track volunteers using CEDAR, Microsoft Excel and Jotform to maintain volunteer program records.
  • Table at events for Tukwila Parks and Recreation and the Green Tukwila Partnership.
  • Support public environmental education through marketing and workshops, as needed.
  • Maintain Green Tukwila’s program materials, tools and vehicles.
  • Support GTP programs: Urban Forest Stewards, Adopt-A-Spot and Youth Green Crew Internship.
  • Ability to work with minimum or no supervision; 
  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety practices; 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; 
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with program staff,
  • participants, volunteers, parents, and the general public; 
  • Physical ability sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a diverse group and comfortable with public speaking.

  • A demonstrated ability to manage workload, schedule, and resources to meet deadlines and achieve goals
  • A demonstrated ability to effectively perform multiple responsibilities simultaneously and/or frequently moving from one activity to another without losing focus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software and social media platforms.
  • Strong written and oral skills

Minimum Qualifications:

(A) Possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.; 

(B) Minimum of 18 years old; 

(C) College-level coursework in Recreation, Education, or related field (preferred); 

(D) Minimum of two-years experience in a similar work environment of which at least 6-months was in a supervisory role.

Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid Driver's License/ID. Must be physically capable of assisting and participating in physical activities and have the ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Maintain current CPR/First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain prior to employment.
