PURPOSE OF POSITION: This position in the Broadband Department exists to provide external customer support for the fiber-optic system, employee support for the IT systems, and all other related operations to ensure signal quality, service reliability, disaster prevention, and system security.
The work is performed under the general direction of the Technology Services Department Manager who reviews the work through evaluation of reports and results, analysis of complaints, and personal conferences.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

· Customer Support: Provides customer support for issues related to internet service and equipment. Informs and educates customers regarding fiber products offered. Provides installation, troubleshooting, and related appointments.
· Technology: Works with internal employees to identify needs and correct problems. Monitors and analyzes system use; recommends improvements. Diagnoses and resolves hardware and software issues. Assists in maintaining local and wider area networks. Works closely with third-party service providers. Implements and supports all system configuration and performs system maintenance. Maintains network design and configuration documentation.
· Broadband Fiber: Contributes to the development, implementation, and maintenance of disaster recovery plans for the fiber internet system and internal systems. Participates in emergency fiber restorations, including preparation, and splicing. Assists field technicians with completing their duties as needed, particularly in cases of emergencies.
· Other Duties: Maintain reliable attendance and able to work under minimum supervision. Demonstrates consistent professional attitude, exceptional customer service, demonstrating integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Be available to assist with emergency operations in accordance with the Employee Handbook and appropriate emergency operations plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education: High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
· Experience: Knowledge of computers, software, and networking. Experience with TCP/IP and connectivity issues.
· Communication: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with coworkers, state and public officials, the general public and outside agency representatives. Produces written documents in the English language with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
· Driver’s License/Testing/Background: Must possess, or be able to obtain, a valid Oklahoma drivers’ license and a driving record that meets or exceeds the City of Tuttle’s driving standards. Must pass a pre-hire drug test and pass random drug tests throughout employment. Must have a clean history on pre-hire background authorization.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to work from City Hall and other city facilities during business hours, typically Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Must be available to attend required evening and night meetings/events as needed. Some work may be required outside regular workdays for emergency calls.
· Must be able to handle customer complaints with tact and professionalism.
· CONTINUOUS sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to manipulate keyboard, equipment controls, and other office equipment; pinch grasp to manipulate writing utensils. FREQUENT side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending, and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials, lifting objects weighing up to 20 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 yards. OCCASIONAL squatting, kneeling, reaching above and at shoulder height, moderate grasping to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20-35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet; climbing stools and step ladders.
· Ability to work in confined spaces; crouch/crawl under desks to set-up or check connections.
· Subject to typical business office environment where noise level is moderate, and interruptions are frequent. Sharing office and office equipment such as copier, fax machine, printer, etc. is normal. High degree of concentration is required to fulfill essential job duties.
· Vision required to read and review written correspondence, reports, statistical and technical information, computer screen, etc., subject to continuous exposure to light and glare from computer terminal. Must be able to distinguish between colors typically associated with fiber-optic and other systems.
· Hearing required in the normal audio range with or without correction.
· Must have a professional appearance and demeanor; and convey a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the City.
· May be required, from time-to-time, to work outside in inclement weather and construction sites, climb ladders, and step stools. May be at risk of electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to loud or prolonged noise levels.
WORK SCHEDULE:
May require extended work hours depending on department needs including nights, weekends, and holidays.
