- Responsibilities:
- Maintain surveillance of patrons in the pool and respond quickly to all emergencies.
- Perform preventive lifeguarding and enforce rules to keep patrons safe.
- Stay alert to recognize when a patron is struggling in the water.
- Ability to work as a part of a team to perform tasks (first aid, cleaning, etc.) and to effectively respond in an emergency.
- Effectively communicate with staff and patrons.
- Ability to listen to and implement feedback.
- Hourly Wage: $12 - $15 hour
- Starting pay adjustable depending on previous lifeguard experience.
- $14-$15 per hour for Lifeguards that work most of their shifts Monday-Friday from 5am-3pm.
- Schedule Options:
- 58 hour average every 2 weeks
- Schedule A:
- 1st & 3rd weeks of the month: 39 hours
- 2nd & 4th weeks of the month: 19 hours
- Schedule B:
- 1st & 3rd weeks of the month: 19 hours
- 2nd & 4th weeks of the month: 39 hours
- 19 hours per week with occasional boost to 40 hours.
- For Lifeguard/Swim instructor position, swim lesson hours are included in the schedule options.
- Requirements:
- 15 years of age or older.
- Ability to pass a pre-lifeguard training swim test.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Training:
- Preemployment Red Cross Lifeguard training & certification are provided at no cost.
- Responsibilities:
- Teach swim technique, strokes, and water safety rules to students of varied ages and abilities.
- Assess students' progress and provide feedback.
- Adapt lesson plans according to students' needs and goals.
- Ability to work as a part of a team to perform tasks and to effectively respond in an emergency.
- Effectively communicate with staff and participants.
- Develop and improve your own skills and knowledge as a swim instructor.
- Ability to listen to and implement feedback.
- Hourly Wage:
- $16 hour for public lessons.
- $20 hour for private lessons.
- Schedule:
- 6-12 plus hours per week in addition to lifeguard hours
- Requirements:
- 15 years of age or older.
- Previous competitive, lifeguarding, or instructional swim experience.
- Ability to pass a pre-swim instructor training swim test.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Training:
- Red Cross Water Safety Instructor training & certification provided at no cost.
