What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker (Main Street) position at City of Valdosta, GA?
Overview
Independently performs the full range of building and room set-ups and cleaning duties in an assigned buildings or other areas. Open and close events including monitoring assigned events. Assist and support Main Street staff.
- Prepare all venues for events, including cleaning, setup, building prep, etc.
- Tear down and clean after all venue events.
- Clean and maintain all assigned buildings, facilities, and venues both for routine and monthly/annual maintenance.
- Perform minor repairs and/or maintenance in all assigned buildings, facilities, and venues.
- Maintain building maintenance and custodial supplies and equipment.
- Stock inventory of maintenance materials and supplies.
- Performs related duties.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of cleaning, maintenance, and other basic custodial responsibilities.
- Knowledge of equipment, supplies and chemicals required by the position.
- Knowledge of operating job-related tools, mechanical appliances, vacuum cleaners, floor strippers, buffers, polishers, and other wheeled and mechanized equipment.
- Knowledge of safe work practices.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by a state agency for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
