Accountant

Position: Full-Time, with generous benefits               Salary Range: $80,938.67 – $115,200.96

Join a collaborative team of professionals as the financial lead for the City of Veneta. Veneta (pop. 5,261) is a progressive and growing world-class small town! Only 12 miles west of Eugene and centrally located, Veneta offers easy access to the Oregon Coast and the Cascade Mountains. The Fern Ridge area is home to the world-famous Oregon Country Fair, 5,794 acres of wildlife reserves, wineries, and Oregon’s best sailing lake Fern Ridge Reservoir.

About the Position

• Lead technical accounting and auditing functions, including processing bi-monthly payroll for a small team of 17 employees, plus seasonal pool staff.
• Collaborate with the City Administrator and Public Works Director to prepare and submit required annual financial reports.
• Ensure accuracy and compliance by reviewing accounting work from other departments for adherence to policies, procedures, and GAAP standards.
• Work primarily on-site to foster collaboration and support community initiatives, with remote flexibility when tasks require focused, deadline-driven work.

Position Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor degree in accounting and three years of progressively responsible experience in applying generally accepted accounting principles, regulations, and internal controls which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described duties;

OR

Two-year degree in accounting or equivalent by additional coursework in accounting and five years of experience

in applying generally accepted accounting principles, regulations, and internal controls which demonstrate the

knowledge, skills and ability to perform the above-described duties.
