General Statement of Job
Leads parks crew while performing all aspects of parks maintenance services including but not limited to, landscape maintenance and installations, mowing, weed eating, and trimming of city property.
City Expectations:
Certain essential city services are required to be maintained in any civil emergency. Depending upon the type of emergency, any and all employees may be activated as essential employees in the event of an emergency.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
1. Assigns tasks, provides guidance, and operates as part of the crew engaged in park maintenance and service activities. Ascertains all necessary equipment and materials are available to perform scheduled work.2. Pre-check daily work orders to prioritize assignments and ensure proper documentation upon completion.
3. Maintain and repair mowing and maintenance equipment essential for park operations.
4. Make recommendations to the Parks Supervisor regarding mowing routes, landscaping needs, appropriate crew sizes, etc. for daily workload.
5. Ensures correct set up of Maintenance of Traffic and work zone as well as safe crew work practices.
6. Conduct daily follow-up of mowed areas including special project areas to ensure quality of service.
7. Trains new employees on mowing procedures, equipment, products, departmental policies, and standards.
8. Maintains assigned records and report forms required by the City accurately and legibly.
9. Safely and efficiently drives and operates city vehicles as required.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of work assignments following established safety practices. Responsible in work to the Public Works Parks Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education and Training
High school graduate or equivalent with three (3) years’ experience in park operations. Must possess and maintain a Public Swimming Pool Technician Certificate. In addition, must possess and maintain a pesticide certification and Florida Maintenance of Traffic Certificate or have the ability to obtain within one (1) year from date of hire. Pesticide Best Management Practices (BMP) Certification preferred. Must possess a valid Florida class "B" Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements and free of any serious violations.
Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required
Skill Requirements:
Knowledge of applicable methods, materials, equipment and techniques. Capable of sustaining regular and predictable attendance. Awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions and safely operate equipment used to maintain public land, park facilities. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public.

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Required to participate in the on call rotation and must be available for emergencies, which can extend the normal work period if required. May also work in roadways where vehicle traffic hazards exist.
