Job Summary: The purpose of this job is to perform a variety of duties associated with providing support to the Parks and Recreation Department to include but not limited to assisting with recreational camps, and special events. Applicant will be responsible for assisting with implementing special events. Working on July 3rd is required.
Job Duties:
- Assists with implementing and being directly involved with campers during all recreation camp programs and events as well as educational and instructional activities involved in and with camp.
- Prioritizes job tasks and completes them within specified time frames meeting strict deadlines, and following camp schedules given.
- Required to attend camp(s), camp events, and staff training. Duties include monitoring campers, interacting during camp activities, and evaluating day to day to improve the overall experience for the participants.
- Works independently and together with the camp director to oversee activities at designated locations such as Gold Dust Park, downtown Gym, Powell Park, V-plex, and any field trips. Includes set up and take down at facilities and areas for camp or camp events.
- Enforces safety procedures, city policies, camp and park rules.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with all camp participants, camp personnel, and presenters.
- Ensures adherence to all Local, State, and Federal Regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Successful practices and knowledge of principles, rules, and procedures of organized recreational camps, camp events, and camp field trips.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing with staff members and/or supervisors and have working knowledge of appropriate technology to best serve the camp and assist in managing events.
- Ability to communicate and establish rapport, understanding and confidence with participants and the public; exercise independent judgment in the application of camp programs, game rules, and procedures; supports in preparing for camp programs and events; and be a team player in the organization.
- High School Degree or GED.
- Measurable prior experience in a camp setting is preferred.
- Must pass a drug screening.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver license.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- CPR/First Aid is preferred.

- The employee will be required to walk, kneel/crouch, and any other physical demands needed to participate in camp games or setting up for any camp activities.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee might work indoors or outdoors and be exposed to all types of weather and will work around light and heavy camp equipment.
