The Evidence Technician will be responsible for receiving, logging, storing, and disposing of evidence and property.
The role involves preserving the integrity of all evidence collected, ensuring that it is stored and handled in line with legal requirements and standards.
This position requires a keen eye for detail, ability to multitask, and knowledge of proper handling and storage procedures.
Responsibilities
- Receive and record incoming evidence and property.
- Preserve the integrity of all evidence collected and ensure safe storage.
- Maintain accurate records of all evidence and property transactions.
- Release property and evidence to authorized personnel as required.
- Dispose of evidence and property in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Follow all legal and procedural guidelines for handling and storing evidence.
- Provide testimony in court as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the evidence storage area.
- Participate in audits and inventories of evidence and property.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a law enforcement or related environment preferred.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, and procedures related to evidence handling and storage.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work in various weather conditions when necessary.
