As an Accountant II with the Department of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) you will:
- Prepare & Administer the Department's $24 million Annual Operating Budget.
- Perform analysis of general ledger accounts, to include reconciliations of accounts receivable, liability accounts, and revenue accounts; make adjusting entries in the City's Oracle ERP system to ensure the integrity of the financial system, and compliance with accounting regulations.
- Perform monthly financial transaction processing and periodic financial reporting. Research, analyze, reconcile, and prepare financial documents and records on departmental expenses.
- Assist in the review, analysis and preparation of financial documents and records in oversight of the departmental CIP budgets.
- Track, analyze and report on the VAOEMs Four-for-Life Grant Funding Program.
- Administer, track and report on EMS provider training contracts.
- Facilitate approved Volunteer Rescue Squad Loan Processes.
- Review EMS accounts receivable for accuracy, and post to general ledger using Oracle Financial Cloud.
- Assist in generating reports for internal and external audits.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS:
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related and three (3) years of experience utilizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with such positions as Accountant OR an equivalent combination of education (above high school level) and/or experience equivalent to seven (7) years in fields utilizing the knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with this position.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferences:
- Experience with Governmental financial reporting
- Experience with budget development and tracking.
- State and Federal Grant Experience
- Experience with ERP Financial Systems such as Oracle Financial Cloud.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Platforms (Excel, Word, Etc.)
- Prior experience with a public safety agency.
- Experience with medical billing, reporting and accounts receivable processing
