What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motor Equipment Operator I position at City of Virginia Beach?
The City of Virginia Beach is hiring a Motor Equipment Operator I to work in Beach Operations. We are looking for employees who understand the importance of great customer service, as this position has some contact with our tourists and citizens within the City of Virginia Beach.
Duties include but not limited to:
Trash collection
Clean up litter and debris on beaches, Boardwalk and Atlantic Avenue
Sand removal and grading
Trimming/weed eating and maintaining sand fences/split rails in public accesses
Set up and take down for Special Events
Removal of dead sea life from beaches and supervising contractual employees
Operating various types of equipment such as Four-Wheel Drive Beach Truck, Packer Truck, Mad Vacuum, Sweeper and Skid Steer – as well as various power tools.
Work schedule:
5:30 am to 2:00 pm Monday-Friday - off season
5:30 am to 2:00 pm - 7 days a week (April 1st to November 1st)
Hours will vary to meet Resort demands.
Some night hours are required during Special Events
**Position is ALPHA I and will be required to work during all inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes & snow, etc.).
