We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Motor Equipment Operator III to join our team. In this role, you will assist in a wide variety of duties to include :
- Operate an excavator for the completion of ditch maintenance activities such as mowing vegetation and grading.
- Operate a light truck in carrying tools, equipment, and supplies, to and from job site.
- Operate a motor truck engaged in snow removal, or sanding of icy streets and roads.
- Operate dump truck in connection with the transportation of sand, stone, gravel, and supplies.
- Operate a Ditch Master.
- Operate a laser level and grade rod for accurate measurements of ditch grades.
- Service and perform minor repairs on automotive equipment include, but not limited to, excavator, frontend loader, and backhoe.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials and equipment transported by truck.
- Position also requires a significant amount of work by hand when cleaning drainage structures, pipes, ditches, removing debris, downing trees, and shoveling sediment.
- Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less.
- Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then current workloads and department needs.
- Installation of erosion and sediment control applications for the excavation of off-road ditches.
Must possess a Commercial Driver's License - Class A (VA or NC)
This position is ALPHA 1 and is required to work during all inclement weather (flooding, hurricanes & snow, etc.).
Pre-employment physical is required.
