What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motor Equipment Operator III position at City of Virginia Beach?
The City of Virginia Beach is hiring a Motor Equipment Operator III. This position require incumbents to have a valid CDL license.
- Operate complex construction and maintenance equipment including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and off road dump trucks in moving trash, grading, and maintaining the landfill workface and roads.
- Operate tractor mowers, medium duty power mowers, chainsaws, and weed control devices for maintaining vegetation on landfill slopes, ditches, and grounds.
- Operator roll-off container trucks for moving roll-off containers to and from convenience center.
- Operate and maintain various dewatering pumps including gas and diesel.
- Clean and perform daily checks and minor repairs on automotive equipment.
- Perform minor repairs of leachate control system.
- Assist in spotting and traffic control on the landfill work face and drop off areas.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials and equipment transported by trucks.
CDL Hiring Bonus:
Newly hired employees with a valid Class A or B CDL will be eligible for a $4,000 hiring bonus paid in three increments during the first year of employment:
$1000 with first paycheck
$1000 first pay period following six-month interim evaluation (with “meets expectation” performance rating)
$2000 at conclusion of probationary period (with “meets expectation performance rating)
Non probationary employees with a Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license will be eligible for a $4,000 stipend (paid over 26 pay periods).
