Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in road construction and management and be skilled in overseeing projects from inception to completion. As part of the supervisory team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your leadership and expertise will guide the team in executing construction and maintenance tasks efficiently while adhering to safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assists in directing operations concerning maintenance of roads, streets, sidewalks and storm water systems; monitors the progress of subordinate staff on each work assignment.
- Oversees the compilation of data for various reports; provides street, curb, gutter, and storm drain information and condition to the Street Supervisor for reporting to administration.
- Utilize software tools such as Prolog, Bluebeam, and HeavyBid for project scheduling, estimating, and budgeting.
- Works with the Street Supervisor to ensure compliance of established guidelines, procedures and policies. Adheres to State and Federal guidelines regarding DOT mandates and regulations.
- Meets with various City staff, law enforcement personnel and first responders regarding emergency events to determine response, supply procurement, and related information in the absence of the Street Supervisor.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members while fostering a positive work environment.
- Operates and maintains the department's heavy equipment including but not limited to dual tandem dump truck, snow plow, brush hog, excavator, skid steer, etc.
- Address any issues or conflicts that arise on-site promptly and effectively.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Supervisor or in a similar supervisory role within the construction or road and bridge industry, preferably within a municipality setting.
- Proficiency in project estimating and scheduling.
- Strong understanding of budgeting processes and financial management related to construction and maintenance projects.
- Familiarity with established safety regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead teams effectively.
- Experience in interpreting blueprints and schematics for accurate project execution.
- Proven ability to analyze city roadways and identify problems and determine optimum solutions.
