Under moderate supervision, you will perform and lead a range of complex tasks related to the operations and maintenance of our water systems.Responsibilities : Lead and perform a variety of complex tasks related to the maintenance and repair of water mains, distribution lines, and associated infrastructure.Provide guidance and direction to team members in the field, ensuring that tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established guidelines.Exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and make decisions that ensure the efficient daily operation of water supply and distribution systems.Collaborate with supervisors and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for optimizing system performance and minimizing downtime.Assist in training new team members and providing ongoing mentorship and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment usage, and regulatory compliance.Respond to emergencies and service disruptions promptly, coordinating with other departments and external agencies as needed.The City of Wentzville Water Division is hiring for a Water Operator I or II position based on years of experience and certifications.Water Operator II : The starting Pay Rate for a Water Operator II is $27.95. / hr.Two years of water experience, advanced equipment experience, Distribution II certification and Class B CDL air brakes with tanker endorsement. This position must possess the ability to work independently or as a team member in the water distribution field.Water Operator I : The starting Pay Rate for a Water Operator I is $26.37 / hr.Must possess a Distribution I or the ability to acquire Class B air brakes with tanker endorsement. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
