THIS IS A PROMOTIONAL JOB POSTING AND ONLY CURRENT CITY OF WESTERVILLE POLICE DIVISION EMPLOYEES WILL BE CONSIDERED.
The Division of Police, in conjunction with I/O Solutions, Inc. (IOS), is conducting a promotional process for the position of Lieutenant with the anticipation of filling [1] vacancy and establishing an eligibility list in accordance with CBA Article 15.
SUPERVISION
With general direction from an Assistant Chief of Police, the Lieutenant supervises the daily operations of their assigned work group. Supervision is exercised over the sworn officers on a particular shift or work group. Position may require assignment to variable hours and shifts. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF WORK
(May not include all job duties performed).
Capable of performing essential job functions of a sergeant or an officer as required.
Schedules and assigns work for subordinate officers.
Ensures that the Division's policies and procedures are followed.
Reviews subordinate performance for evaluations and makes recommendations for commendations and discipline.
Responds to citizen complaints and concerns.
Assists in the investigation of crimes.
Reviews reports and associated work product.
Informs personnel of ongoing police activity through roll call and the daily briefing sheets.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF WORK
Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Must have served at least one (1) year as a Sergeant with the Westerville Division of Police as of the closing date of this announcement
Not in a probationary status as of the closing date of this announcement
Maintain all required certifications

Preparation Materials
Written Examination Study Guide. The study guide will provide candidates with rules as they relate to the examination as well as tips for how to better study and prepare for the exam. The study guide will be prepared by IOS and will be available to all eligible candidates at the time of this posting.- Orientation. IOS will deliver a virtual orientation (via Microsoft Teams) covering all aspects of the promotional process. More specifically, IOS will provide candidates with information regarding the development of the promotional process, general information pertaining to how the components will be evaluated, rules governing the process, and tips on how to prepare. The orientation is tentatively scheduled for [Monday 05/26/2025] at [9am EST]. Eligible candidates will have the opportunity to attend the virtual orientation and ask questions of IOS at the end of the presentation. For candidates who are unable to attend, a recording of the orientation will be made available shortly after the session, along with a survey link to submit questions to. A separate notification will be made in which candidates are provided with the link for the orientation, as well as the window of time to watch the recording and submit any questions.

HEALTH BENEFITS
Employees pay 15% of the monthly medical insurance premium though United Healthcare which includes prescription coverage. Family and single coverage is available. The City health care plan is a high deductible healthcare plan.
VISION AND DENTAL
The City pays 100% of the premium for dental and vision.
LIFE INSURANCE
The City pays 100% of the premium on a $100,000 life insurance policy for employee.
RETIREMENT PENSION
The City contributes 19.5% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Police and Fire Pension Fund.
VACATION
Employees two weeks of paid vacation after completing one-year probationary period.
PERSONAL LEAVE
Employees receive 6 prorated days of personal leave annually.
