Athletic Field Maintenance Worker for Turf Field
Location: Reporting to the 470 Field Complex, with potential assignments across various fields.
Athletic Field Maintenance Worker
Summary: Part Time
The Athletic Field Maintenance Worker participates in athletic field maintenance, improvements and renovation projects; maintains cooperation and good public relations between maintenance crew and park patrons.
Basic Function and Responsibilities:
- Timely maintenance and preparation of game and practice athletic/multipurpose fields to ensure safe conditions for players and spectators.
- Performs building and grounds maintenance and improvements at all athletic field complexes and practice field facilities. Duties include, but not limited to, dragging playing surfaces, mowing, janitorial and trash removal, turf maintenance management, field lighting operation and maintenance, equipment operation and preventive maintenance.
- Safely operates heavy and light park equipment and hand tools to perform functions, including groomer, mower, and weed eater.
- Sets up and tears down for Parks and Recreation special events and activities.
- Performs work in a safe manner, securing work site and following work zone safety rules, wearing safety equipment including glasses, boots, gloves, hearing protection, helmets, and harnesses.
- Provides quality customer service and represents Parks and Recreation in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions; lift, carry, push and pull up to 100 pounds stand for extended periods; and operate various parks equipment including: backhoes, loaders, bobcat, tandem dump truck, brush hog, skid loader, ditch witch, and trenching equipment.
- Provide quality customer service and represent Parks and Recreation in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
- Must be able to multi-task and be self-motivated.
- Must satisfactorily fulfill all departmental training requirements.
- Adhere to all Wheeling Parks & Rec Dept policies
- Standing, stooping, and bending for long periods of time
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, holidays and special events.
