BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The Public Records Coordinator position is responsible for processing all public information requests for the City to include reviewing records provided by staff, redacting when necessary, consulting with legal staff if needed, preparing briefs to submit to the Attorney General’s Office, receiving and interpreting rulings from the Attorney General’s Office, preparing cost estimates and invoices for requests. This position handles complex, confidential, graphic and/ or disturbing information regularly and remains up to date on laws, rules, and policies that could impact and are related to the Public Information Act.
This position will also provide administrative support to both internal and external customers as needed.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Driver’s License Required – Y Type – C Endorsements – N/A
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must pass a pre-employment keyboard test with a minimum score of 40 wpm. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software to include Word and Excel.
Knowledge and prior experience with public records request software (such as GovQA) and bilingual preferred.

1 S Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedule is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice.
2 S Collects records from various City departments by working closely with department liaisons.
3 S Redacts collected information in compliance with legal and statutory requirements. Information may contain confidential, graphic, and/ or disturbing information.
4 S Prepares appropriate arguments with input from supervisor when needed to present to the Attorney General in cases where records need to be withheld. Works closely with the Legal department as needed for assistance.
5 S Provides administrative support to internal and external customers as needed .
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Experience-Related Requirements Over one year and up to and including two years.
Vocational/ Educational Preparation Requires Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education.
