BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to assist the department in providing new or upgraded water service, provide information to the public prepare map changes and work orders, determine costs, coordinate the valve program, assists with research, and review plans and ordinances for amendments. This is accomplished by answering inquiries, researching information, completing routine clerical tasks, determining service call charges, preparing work orders, maintaining work records and files, and preparing invoices. Other duties may include completing related clerical functions, acting as backup for payroll and dispatch, and assisting with new personnel training.

2 S Answers routine requires on water taps, water and sewer main locations and costs for service by locating addresses, verifying utilities, preparing estimates, assessing permit information, entering data, calculating charges, preparing information for customer requests, printing maps, explaining policies and procedures, and directing customers to other offices or departments.
3 S Maintains files and records, determines service call charges and produces regular reports by separating and sorting files, using ordinance information to calculate charges, preparing cost descriptions, submitting summary reports and regular reports to management.
4 L Compiles utility sketches and changes, maintains office maps, and completes reviews of new construction plans by reviewing information, updating maps and addresses, forwarding lists to engineering, updating map books, pulling outdated maps, and reviewing information with management.
5 S Coordinates work order process by reviewing and entering work orders, reconciling information with maps, closing work orders, contacting other departments if required, and completing associated paperwork.
6 S Assists with related research by determining needed capital improvements and updating customer costs, reviewing ordinances, querying databases, compiling information, typing cost updates, and recommending changes to supervision.
