What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wichita Unsheltered Resource Coordinator position at City of Wichita?
This is administrative work performed in an area of expertise which may be developed on the job. Work may include supervision of other staff, coordination of recurring events, investigation and research, statistical analyses, coordination of activities of the Department, and/or relieving the supervisor of a variety of administrative duties.

- Responds to notifications of individuals who are unsheltered and are camping on public property
- Performs outreach activitiestothoseindividualsandcollectsdataabouttheunshelteredindividualsandthelocationoftheencampment.
- Enters data into the Community-wide Street outreach tool through the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), maps encampments and coordinates with community-wide, coordinated street outreach to resolve individuals' homelessness.
- Coordinates between multiple Departments and community agencies on behalf of unsheltered individuals.
- Conducts analysis, prepares reports and coordinates and shares data (HMIS or otherwise) to support project planning and/or responding to public issues.
- May conduct oral presentations with recommendations of proposed solutions and courses of action changes.
- Monitors and ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
- Prepares correspondence, brochures, and other narrative material.
- Coordinates state and federally funded program contract compliance.
- Composes correspondence, frequently not subject to review.
- Conducts research and prepares reports with recommendations of proposed solutions and courses of action.
- Confers with citizens and representatives of other organizations.
- Facilitates boards, committees, and/or task forces in information gathering and analysis.
- Completion of work assignments will require the operation of a vehicle.

- Considerable knowledge of strategies and techniques of working with the unhoused population.
- Considerable knowledge of HUD/CoC grants, projects and Coordinated Entry Systems.
- Considerable knowledge of the local homeless response system and working directly with the unhoused population in assessing for barriers and developing housing plans.
- Considerable experience working with community partners, sharing and utilizing shared community resources and building rapport
- Considerable knowledge of research techniques and sources of information.
- Knowledge of information resources and information evaluation and reporting techniques.
- Knowledge of the practices and principles of municipal government or of the organizational operations of the hiring Department.
- Knowledge of standard computer keyboard configurations and ability to access, interpret, and record information using a video display terminal and electronic keyboard
- Knowledge of the of basic other laws, ordinances and regulations governing the municipality.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize, and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and inwriting.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, other employees of the City, representatives of other organizations, and the public.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
- An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
Required Experience and Training
- Graduation from a four-year college with two years of experience administering federal housing assistance programs OR six years of experience administering federal housing assistance programs.

- A valid driver’s license.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.
Preferred Experience and Training
- Master’s degree in psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Urban Studies, Human Rights, or Public Administration.
- One year of experience conducting outreach activities with individuals experiencing homelessness, including data collection, mapping encampments, and coordinating with service providers.
- One year of experience preparing reports with data analysis and making recommendations based on research and outreach activities.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a police records check.
Salary : $59,115 - $105,106
