What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Specialist - Events position at City of Wildwood?
The Recreation Specialist will perform work organizing recreational activities, assisting the Parks & Recreation department with operational projects and communicating with the public. Preliminary training and general instructions are received from an administrative superior. Work is performed under general supervision and requires night and weekend hours.
- Participates in the collection of revenues/fees/donations for facility rentals, tickets/admissions, and other programs & events; prepares daily cash reports and deposits receipts.
- Communicates regularly with the general public and responds to customer questions, requests, complaints, and suggestions.
- Assists in the planning, scheduling, instruction, and organization of recreation programs, activities, events, and services.
- Monitors one or more assigned recreation programs, activities, events, or services.
- May plan and participate in individual and group instruction along with scheduling of events, programs, scorekeepers, and game officials.
- Handles daily opening and/or closing of facilities.
- Monitors and reports unauthorized persons along with other safety and security concerns.
- Partners with various organizations within the community to create programmatic initiatives.
- Notifies appropriate staff of any incident or accident and completes the required documentation associated with each concern.
- Generates contracts for game officials, vendors, clients, facility rentals, special entertainment, etc.
- Creates various reports and projects as directed by the supervisor.
- Participates in the work of setting up and breaking down meeting rooms and facilities for functions.
- Organize and inventory supplies and equipment to meet the programmatic needs of the facility.
- Creates, prints, and distributes marketing/informational materials and calendars for programs, activities, events, and suggestions.
- May also perform custodial work such as required and assigned, including: changing light bulbs; sweeping floors; vacuuming carpets; dumping garbage and reline cans with liners; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies; cleaning spills, etc.
- High School Diploma
- Preferred at least six (6) months of experience in physical education, recreation, camps, volunteerism, or related field
- Knowledge of recreational activities suitable for all ages and abilities;
- Knowledge of program development, special event planning, and recreation leagues and tournaments are preferred;
- Ability to lead and instruct all ages and abilities in recreational activities;
- Ability to solve problems and address concerns;
- Ability to contribute to the accomplishment of team goals, objectives and activities while maintaining effective working relationships;
- Ability to work late nights, early mornings, on weekends and holidays;
- Ability to maintain basic records, reports and data collection.
Salary : $39,213 - $43,135
