Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Coordinator to join our team at the City of Williams. As a key member of our public safety department, you will be responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, dispatching appropriate law enforcement and emergency units, and gathering and relaying critical information.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, interview callers, gather details, prioritize calls for service, and determine appropriate personnel to respond.
- Dispatch emergency responders, relay pertinent information to law enforcement officers, and provide information and assistance to the public within the scope of authority.
- Maintain status and awareness of police patrol unit locations, monitor message traffic, and relay information to officers.
- Enter emergency assistance calls into the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) incident logs, input information into the ACJIS & NCIC computer system, and maintain records and files.
- Contact other law enforcement agencies for additional information and resources, and relay pertinent information regarding incidents.
- Notify key City of Williams personnel on critical incidents and follow all Department policies and procedures to assure that officer and public safety is the top priority.
- Perform inquiries and criminal history checks for officers through ACJIS and NCIC; send inquiries to other agencies for warrant confirmations or general information.
- Enter data for records and reports, process forms and records files, and query system databases as requested.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures, equipment utilized in law enforcement communications, law enforcement patrol procedures, Police and Fire Departments standard dispatch policies, and geographical area, road systems, and landmark locations.
- Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously, under pressure, and in emergency stressful situations; communicating clearly and concisely, remembering names, numbers, and locations, reading maps quickly and accurately, and working under deadlines.
