The Clerk II provides administrative support to William "Hicks" Anderson Community Center and the Recreation Division, which is clerical work involving the performance of responsible and varied duties. They utilize a high degree of diplomacy in the performance of their assignments and require moderately broad office management responsibilities. This position reports to the Superintendent of Recreation. Additional responsibilities include:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Considerable experience in performing general office and clerical work of a progressively responsible nature or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Courses in bookkeeping, accounting, and related computer subjects or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Evaluation for this position includes a review of the applicant materials, certification of qualified applicants, testing in Word and Excel, and a panel interview (in-person or virtual).
Working Conditions And Physical Requirements
All selected applicants must pass a criminal background investigation, drug test and pre-employment physical.

Duties And Responsibilities

This position reports to the Superintendent of Recreation. Additional responsibilities include:
- Provides high-level customer service via direct contact with the public, including answering phones, checking voicemails, and greeting customers who visit WHACC.
- Processes all facility request forms and prepares them for the Deputy Director's approval.
- Assists the Deputy Director and/or designee with vital records functions of the office, including identifying vital records, processing records, and transferring records to storage.
- Assists the Family Matters Coordinator with the membership intake process, including processing applications, filing them, updating pertinent information in the membership database system, and ensuring information is updated quarterly.
- Prepares general vouchers and reports; reviews status of department contracts; maintains filing system.
- Assists the public by conveying programs and services provided by the department.
- Performs administrative duties that include but are not limited to creating letters, forms, reports, and other related functions.
- Supports internal and external programs as needed.
- Back up to for the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Parks and Recreation
- Performs all related work as required.

- Skills: Good knowledge of business English, spelling, and math. Excellent knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Possess good customer service experience in maintaining effective working relationships with employees and the public. Must be able to input data accurately and to type 30 wpm.
- Abilities: Ability to organize and maintain complex records/files and prepare reports from various statistical information. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Licenses: Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
