JOB
As a code enforcement specialist, you are responsible for knowing, observing, investigating, and enforcing the possible violations of City Ordinances. You will work independently as a code enforcement team to ensure that the City is compliant. This work will result in the consistent and frequent use of City provided equipment to conduct physical inspections of properties, facilities, and fields, parks, and other areas throughout the City. Work is performed under the general supervision of a police Captain.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Using a city provided vehicle, perform the inspection of various properties, facilities, occupied and unoccupied dwellings and areas of the City on a regular basis to determine those areas and/or properties where violations to the Code of Ordinances exists. Inspection of roadways, right of way, medians, sidewalks, fields, wooded area, and other areas within the City where violations to the Code of Ordinances exist. Investigates complaints involving violations of alleged violations of city codes. Resolves violations through voluntary compliance or, when not possible, issue citations or submit cases and violations to the Code Enforcement Board. Conducts research to develop data and information, as required. Assist with customer inquiries both in person and on the phone. Provides physical inspection and updates to customer inquiries to ensure completion of Code compliance. Prepares evidence and presents testimony to the Code Enforcement Board. Organizes and maintains records and reports to document violations and case history. Inputs, accesses, retrieves information from a computer. Research City records to determine ownership of offending property and notify them of violations. Work City Wide events held in parking lots, fields, and various other locations within the City. Requires the consistent monitoring and checking of field, area locations, crowd control, and restricted area rope off for public safety, crowd monitoring, and security. Is required to monitor through walking surveillance, monitoring of cameras and access points, and other duties as assigned. Regular in-person attendance during City and department business hours, since face-to-face interaction and coordination of work with other employee, outside colleagues, residents or vendors, and all immediate access to documents or other information located only in the workplace is required. Performs related field and administrative duties as required.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This function will also involve the consistent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, walking, and the lifting, pushing, manipulation, and carrying of heavy objects.This function will also include the need to climb a ladder, traverse uneven terrain, climb stairs, etc. Some job tasks will involve the exposure to the elements including heat, cold, humidity, inclement weather, loud noise, toxic/chemical agents, electrical currents, pathogens, violent behavior, uneven ground, Tasks include working around unstable structures (fences, housing, etc.), moving parts, vehicles, equipment, carts, and materials handling where heightened awareness to surroundings and environment is essential.
