The City of Wisconsin Rapids has a rewarding opportunity for a Administrative Assistant – Police Department. This is a civilian position within the police department that performs various clerical and
administrative duties. Primary duties will be answering phones, data entry, and warrant validation. This position will also deal with the public, not only in an over-the-phone capacity but also in person, for parking tickets, accident reports, requests for information, and initiation of police reports.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Answering multi-line telephone and forward any calls and/or messages
· Verify and validate warrants and forward them to Wood County
· Assisting citizens at the PD window
· Transcribe dictated police reports and enter into system
· Reconcile cash drawer
· Background records checks
· Process open records requests
· Process different types of paperwork
· Processing and entry of billing
· Operate multiple computer systems
High school diploma or equivalent with sound typing, data entry, and word processing skills. Good knowledge of computers and applications. Two years of clerical experience is preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Starting rate is $21.80; this is a non-exempt position. The City offers attractive benefits, including Wisconsin Retirement System, health and dental insurance, vacation and sick leave, and paid holidays.
