What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal EVGC - Maintenance Intern position at City of Woodbury?
Assist superintendent and his assistant in maintaining the golf course to our customer's expectations. This position will include hands on experience in pesticide application, irrigation repair and installation and all other general maintenance practices.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk on a variety of terrains, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and smell.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time.

The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud in field and garage settings and moderately quiet in office settings.
- Pesticide and fertilizer knowledge, application processes and record keeping
- Irrigation repair and installation
- Assist in training employees in routine maintenance of the golf course
- Supervise seasonal employees on small projects
- Course set up and preparing the course for daily play.
- Bunker repair, edging and daily maintenance
- Operate all pieces of golf course equipment
- Cultural practices such as verti-cutting, topdressing and aerification
- Assist with pest management program
- Help maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Other golf course maintenance activities as directed by the assistant superintendent.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current enrollment in turf related certification program
- Possession or the ability to obtain a Minnesota pesticides applicators license within 30 days of start date
- Ability to work a minimum of every other weekend
- All levels of experience welcome
