The selected candidate will be responsible for a performing a variety of duties related to leave programs, safety, training, administration of the workers' compensation program, monitoring the random drug testing program, and maintaining files as they relate to employee accidents and claim loss statistics and trends. As needed, assists in employee relations.Supervision is provided by the Human Resources Director. Important NotesA Bachelor's Degree is requiredSalary is negotiable based on qualifications and experience within posted salary rangeResume and cover letter are required; if both are not provided, candidates could be subject to disqualificationApplicants selected for onsite interviews will also be asked to participate in various assessments to test skills including proficiency in Google softwareThe Human Resources department works four ten hour days each week on site

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides employee information regarding training and development opportunities. Assigns and tracks mandatory quarterly TMLIRP training for all non-sworn employees. Conducts training needs assessments to plan and administer employee development programs.Acts as the Safety Coordinator, including administering the safety program in conjunction with the Safety Committee, department heads, division managers, supervisors, and employees.Plays an active role in fostering and promoting the city's One City One Team philosophy.Assists in the coordination of employee events with the HR Department.Counsels and provides assistance to supervisory levels concerning employee relations and interprets employee handbook policies.Oversees City's annual performance evaluation process, to include annually reviewing performance competencies with the HR Director and assigning reviews for completion.Recommends changes in the employee handbook and executes changes approved by the HR Director or City Management.Oversees the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) process.Assures City compliance with Federal, State and local laws regarding employment.Provides timely responses to unemployment claims.Conducts orientation meetings with new employees.Attends training seminars as related to human resources.Assists HR Director with various projects, as needed.Communicates effectively and courteously with the public and other employees in person, in writing and by telephone.Operates a motor vehicle in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others.Other duties as may be assigned.
