Firefighters respond to fires and other emergency calls and must be familiar with modern firefighting techniques, rescue, and emergency medical procedures. Applicants are required to possess a State of Michigan certified Firefighter II (or its equivalent), State HazMat Operations Certification (or its equivalent), and State Medical First Responder (or its equivalent). Candidates with full time firefighting experience and EMT-B certification are preferred.
All fire staff participate in high-quality in-house and outsourced training and professional development programs, which translates to better quality service for the residents, visitors, and businesses in the City.
