The Yakima Fire Department (YFD) provides all-risk emergency services to the City of Yakima and the City of Union Gap, and Yakima County Fire Districts #10 and #11 through fire protection agreements. YFD is the largest career fire department in Yakima County comprised of over 100 full-time employees, and has two Deputy Chiefs - one supervises the fire department operations and the other supervises logistics/support services.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants for this position must be a citizen of the United States or a lawful permanent resident; must have served three (3) years as an Engine Company Officer, equivalent to a Captain in the Yakima Fire Department or higher. An Associate, Bachelors of Arts, Bachelors of Science, or Masters Degree in Fire Science, Fire, Public Administration or a related field is preferred. Graduate or currently enrolled in the Executive Fire Officer's Program from the National Fire Academy is also preferred.
